About Anthrax

Anthrax is an American heavy metal band from New York City, formed in 1981 by rhythm guitarist Scott Ian and bassist Dan Lilker.

More about Anthrax

Formed in New York in 1981, Anthrax helped define East Coast thrash with fast, tightly played records such as Spreading the Disease, Among the Living and Persistence of Time. Their mix of metal intensity, punk energy and an unusually playful streak made them one of the genre’s Big Four alongside Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer. In 2026 the band returned to the road with Iron Maiden’s Run For Your Lives tour, including select North American dates with Megadeth, while revisiting the catalogue that established them in the 1980s.
