Deep Purple

Since forming in 1968, Deep Purple have repeatedly reshaped their sound through changing lineups, moving from early psychedelic rock toward the heavier, improvisational style heard on Deep Purple in Rock, Fireball and Machine Head. The latter produced “Smoke on the Water” and helped establish the group as one of hard rock’s defining bands. Their later decades have remained creatively active: =1 arrived in 2024, followed by the 24th studio album SPLAT! in July 2026. The band continues to record and tour globally, connecting new material with a catalogue that stretches back to the late 1960s.
